Let's try for some regularity...
Jun. 4th, 2007 12:52 amTons of stuff happened this weekend, but not much worth noting. However, I will mention the few "highlights", cause the point of this is to track this stuff over time, right?
First-ly, the CAN shirt did arrive on Saturday. As I suspected, the application of the image was one of those iron on fabic decals that you print from a computer. The actual quality of the shirt wasn't too bad, but the shiny decal made it look a bit hokey. A trip through the washer and dryer also cracked it around the edges slightly. So while the idea of finding a XXL shirt that features a CAN cover (and other obscure retro images) is thrilling, notthing beats an actual screen printed tshirt. I'll take some pictures and see what everyone thinks. But now I found another site where a guy was selling a Nurse With Wound and a NEU! tshirt. I'll have to find out if the image is actually screen printed on the shift before I order them.
Second-ly, I had a marathon phone text message exchange with my friend Aaron yesterday which lasted upwards of about 3 hours. I know some people are this text happy, but that much texting is quite new to me. I think this month will test the limits of my employee plan and actually put me in overage. I honestly don't know how many text messages I get each month, but I've never had overage before. Tru and I had a huge falling out with Aaron and his partner David during Coachella this year. I won't go into details as I've been admonished for sharing particulars with "strangers' on this situation, but this past month has been about re-establishing contact and learning to be friends again. It may or may not happen, but I hope so.
Third-ly, I actually bought a drum kit on a whim. Ok, not so much on a whim as I've considered getting one for a while now. But I found one on craigslist and decided now was the time to dive in and pretend I'm a drummer. It's a black Gretsch 5 piece kit that's almost the exact same as the one my old band used in the late 90s. I like the look and feel of the Gretsch, and how the toms mount on this "floating" hardware. The only problem is that the seller had no cymbals or cymbal stands, so I talked him down $100 off his asking price. I'm no drummer by any means, but I've wanted to have one in my newly cleaned out practice area to not only record with, but for others to use if we practice at my place. I've recently started playing music again with my old drummer Jeff, so it's more ideal for me to not have to travel for any practices.
Last-ly, I spent much of the weekend transfering old files from Zip disks to my hard drive and subsequently burning them to DVD. The fact that the Zip disk is obsolete was quite depressing to me. I fondly remember the times when we created artwork for cassette and DVDR releases about 10 years back and would take them to Kinkos for color printing. I remember all my graphic designer friends put their stuff on either Zip or Jaz discs. I carried all my homework on Zip disks and I thought they were so beefy and cool looking. I loved the way Zip drives made that spinning sound when they spit out your disk. I never had the click of death that plaged so many drives. I remember when 100 MB (and even 250 MB) on a disk felt like a lot of space. Now we have 4.71 GB. The zip disk is toast. It was probably long gone many years ago, but I was in denial. Now my Zip drive and disks are packaged away ready for Goodwill (it's still usable with a USB cable). :O(
What I didn't do this weekend:
- I didn't avoid the complex carbohydrates as much as I should have this weekend. Blood Sugar way up...
- I didn't watch the MTV Video Music Awards. Was it simply empty with out the presence of Lindsay Lohan?

Date: 2007-06-05 07:44 pm (UTC)Ok ... enough of my crap. You are correct, it's the diameter. Sizes are quite standard and even so if you measure 12.25" for some reason ... it's most likely a 12" drum.
Aquarian are a professional drum head company ... they should be fine. I am a bit of a Remo man myself. Any questions you care to throw my way, I would be happy to do my best ...
